A symbol of Easter and Spring time in Italy, the Colomba, or dove in English, is a traditional cake in the shape of a flying dove, soft and moist and similar in consistency to the Christmas panettone with candied fruit inside and a crunchy sweet almond topping.

Our beautiful Colombe have been lovingly handmade this year by Sicilian Pastry experts Fiasconaro.

Ingredients: soft wheat flour, candied orange peel (15%) (orange zest, sugar, concentrated lemon juice), butter, sugar, fresh eggs, fresh egg yolk, natural yeast, Marsala, Sicilian honey, inverted sugar, orange puree (ground orange peel, sugar, concentrated lemon juice), emulsifier: mono and diglycerides of fatty acids, cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, salt, natural flavours: vanilla beans.

Icing: egg whites, sugar, rice flour, apricots, starch, flavourings, granulated sugar, avola almonds (2%).

May contain traces of dried nuts.


Our Producer - Fiasconaro

The Fiasconaro family story started back in 1953 in Sicily when Mario Fiasconaro gradually turned his small ice cream parlour into a thriving confectionary and pastry business. His three children, brothers Fausto, Martino e Nicola, little more than children, helped him in their free time and learnt the craft. Today the Fiasconaro brothers head the company that bears their name: Fausto is the showroom manager, Martino leads the administration, Nicola is the award-winning pastry chef. In the nineties, it was Nicola who developed a Sicilian version of the most traditional cake of Northern Italy - the Panettone. 

Today Fiasconaro is a modern, growing company recognised both nationally and internationally, passionate about the tastes of their island and about creating artisan products using traditional ingredients and methods.
