88/100 Wine Searcher (Very good, a wine with special qualities)
Falanghina is an ancient grape, probably imported to the regions of Campania and Molise by Roman merchants. Its name comes from the Latin ‘phalange’ (meaning tied to a pole – the ancient system of cultivation to make the vines grow).
This golden organic wine has good acidity and fine, delicate fruity notes and a broad and pleasantly bitter aftertaste that recalls pomegranate.
Perfect with simply prepared, super-fresh fish dishes, such as grilled anchovies, chargrilled squid and clams tossed with garlic and pasta. Great too with pork, seafood pasta dishes and vegetable and tomato sauces.

Our Producer
Alessio Di Majo Norante
The Di Majo Norante Estate is located in the Molise region, between Abruzzo to the north and Campania to the south. Molise is one of Italy’s smallest and most obscure wine regions where constant breezes during the summer, excellent soil and sloped valleys create a particularly favourable environment for the production of wine.
Owner Alessio Di Majo’s produces 'new wines from ancient vines' using traditional varieties and clean, modern winemaking. The viticulture is organic and Alessio has long believed such farming practices result in more complex and more appetising wines.
