    Description

    Weight: 300g (approx)

This premium cured lard is made from the back of a breed of pig the 'Cinta Senese' from the province of Siena. White in colour, sometimes with a slight layer of meat, the core of the lard often has a pinkish hue. Its unique quality lies in its fragrant aroma, which comes from the various herbs used during the marinating process in vats.

Our lardo is best enjoyed thinly sliced on warm bread and is also excellent for enhancing meat dishes and also with fish recipes.

Cinta Senese is an ancient pig breed raised exclusively in Tuscany, particularly in the hills surrounding Siena.

    Marini Macelleria

In 1904, Amos Marini, deputy mayor of Agliana, convinced his brother Angelo, known as "Uncle Michele," to open a butcher shop in Ferruccia. With no children, Angelo enlisted his brother Giuseppe and nephew Lido to help manage the business. Lido’s son, Marco, joined the family trade, and in 1971, Lido's other son, Claudio, opened a second shop in Olmi.

Together, Marco and Claudio expanded the pork processing business, supplying products to restaurants and gourmet stores in Italy and abroad. Today, Marco’s sons, Nicola and Manuel, along with their mother Patrizia, continue the family tradition, now in its fourth generation.
