From Casarecci di Calabria, our artisan bronze die cut Orecchiette are made with 100% Italian durum wheat semolina and dried and low temperatures to give them a coarse, rustic surface that holds sauces beautifully.

Orecchiette, originally from Puglia, are round discs slightly sunken in the middle, so called for their shape, which resembles a small ear. Their cup-like interior is perfect for capturing chunky sauces and scooping up small vegetables such as peas.

Traditionally served with cime di rapa (turnip tops) or broccoli and anchovies, Orecchiette also pair wonderfully with tomato-based sauces, either plain or enriched with miniature meatballs and a sprinkling of ricotta forte, a bold, seasoned sheep’s milk ricotta.

Our supplier in Calabria, Southern Italy is ‘Casarecci di Calabria’. We love both the taste of their superior quality products and their great packaging.

This family firm, established in 1998 is located in the Sila Mountains. Like many of our producers Casarecci di Calabria use old fashioned recipes to create old fashioned products, once the staples of any Southern Italian family and now sought after delicacies. Their entire range is produced without adding any preservatives or colours.
