89/100 Wine Searcher (Very Good: a wine with special qualities)
Fatalone Riserva 2020 is an organic DOC wine (100% Primitivo grapes) from Gioia del Colle in the Puglia region of south-eastern Italy. This fantastic red was awarded both the prestigious Decanter Bronze prize and Le Corone 2015 ViniBuoni d'Italia. It received a possible 91 out of 100 points on Wine-Searcher and Wine Align. This is one of our favourite Italian red wines which we love to introduce to our friends!
It is a natural wine, fermented with indigenous yeast and aged 12 months in stainless steel tanks, 12 months in oak casks and 6 months in bottle.
Intense ruby red in colour with slight burgundy hues, it has a scent typical of very ripe fruits and slightly toasted wood and spices with some balsamic notes. Full bodied, rich in minerality and freshness, the balanced smooth taste of black cherry and plum tends to velvety with ripe fruity notes of blackberry and mulberry, and spices like clove and cocoa. The feature which makes this wine unique is the toasted almond aftertaste.
This Primitivo goes well with strong flavoured dishes such as pasta with meat sauce, roast beef, grilled meats, fish and aged cheese. Also wonderful with dark chocolates.
Serve at room temperature.

Our producer – Fatalone
This small family winery has always practiced organic farming and was certified organic by the Institute for Ecology and Ethics Certification (ICEA) in the year 2000. Since 2007 their production cycle has been 100% sustainable, taking advantage of solar power with a photovoltaic system powering the entire winery. They are very proud that their Fatalone organic wines are made with zero CO2 emission and just with locally grown grapes.
